Flamenco returns to the Casa de la Cultura de Antequera. From Friday, November 13 to Sunday, November 15, the building at calle Carreteros, número 8, hosts the fifth edition of the Ciclo Flamenco Juan Casillas, dedicated to the figure of the cantaor from Antequera. All activities are free entry until full capacity. The event starts on Friday, November 13 at 18:00 with «Timón el Flamenquito», a children's show by TEJ Producciones that mixes glove and rod puppet theatre, live music, storytelling and dance to bring flamenco styles closer to family audiences.

Cante from Jerez and Málaga on Saturday

On Saturday, November 14, at 20:00, comes the evening of cante. The Málaga-born cantaora Isabel Guerrero, a native of Fuengirola and known for her saetas and traditional cantes, will perform accompanied on guitar by Ismael Rueda. Alongside her, the cantaor and composer from Jerez Ezequiel Benítez, from the Santiago de Jerez de la Frontera neighbourhood, with Paco León on guitar. Benítez has been nominated for the Latin Grammys and received the Premio Andalucía de la Música for best flamenco artist in 2020. The cycle closes on Sunday, November 15 at 18:30 with the illustrated lecture «El folclore antequerano, Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la ciudad de Antequera», given by Juan Navarro, of the Federación Malagueña de Folclore, and Rosa Mari Bracho, of the Grupo Folclórico Azucena. The session focuses on the fandango from Antequera and local traditions. The deputy mayor of Fiestas Mayores, Tradiciones y Promoción del Flamenco, Elena Melero, has stated that the programme combines an introduction to flamenco for children, performances by cantaores with a recognised career and a space to learn about the musical traditions of Antequera, according to the Ayuntamiento de Antequera.

No registration or ticket purchase is needed: each of the three sessions at the Casa de la Cultura, at calle Carreteros, número 8, is accessed directly. The full programme and times can be consulted at the cycle's listing in the InforMálaga agenda.
