The Fuengirola Tourist Office has renewed its visitor service tools with a new platform that integrates a public portal, a management system, an intelligent text and voice assistant, itinerary planning, surveys and a customer relationship management (CRM) system. According to the councillor for Innovation, Isabel González, this CRM makes it possible to know the interests of those who visit the city and to facilitate their connection with hotels, restaurants and local shops.
These actions are part of Axis 3 of the 'Fuengirola + Turismo. Por un destino más sostenible e inteligente' Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination, dedicated to the digital transition, with an investment of more than 762,000 euros, of which more than 757,000 have been executed, which represents a degree of execution close to 99.3%. The plan as a whole, financed one hundred percent with European funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, has a total budget of 2,498,580 euros and shows an overall execution of 99.24%.
Information in 95 languages and 24 hours a day
The city has also installed new digital supports, including touch totems and screens, which offer tourist information in 95 languages at different points in Fuengirola, both to visitors and residents, without depending on the Tourist Office's opening hours. To this is added the new tourist portal www.somosfuengirola.es, available in five languages.
Virtual reality at Castillo Sohail
The third project of the axis is an immersive virtual reality and 3D modelling experience of Castillo Sohail, which allows a virtual tour of the historical evolution of the monument through different chapters and interactive scenarios. To this end, the Ayuntamiento has incorporated five Meta Quest 3S virtual reality glasses and has trained the staff in charge of their use.
According to the Ayuntamiento, these actions as a whole have made it possible to position Fuengirola as a smart tourist destination through the use of technologies such as Big Data and artificial intelligence, a project that has received a Digital Tourist 2026 award during a congress held in Benidorm on May 7 and 8.
The councillor for Innovation has stated that these initiatives respond to the same municipal strategy aimed at improving both the visitor experience and the city's tourism management.
