Christmas comes to Alhaurín de la Torre with the switching on of the artistic lighting on Friday, December 4, at an event to be held on avenida de España and plaza de San Sebastián. The lights will remain on until January 6, Día de Reyes. Avenida de España, recently renovated and pedestrianised, will be one of the central points of this edition, with luminous columns and aerial arches. The lighting will also reach all the neighbourhoods and urbanisations, with luminous motifs at their entrances, and the urban stretch from Santa Clara to Pinos de Alhaurín, avenida de Ceuta, avenida de Adolfo Suárez and the streets and squares of the historic centre. Among this year's novelties are new luminous motifs, some already visible in the streets, with different shapes and decorative elements that can be seen both at night, when they are switched on, and during the day. The façade of the Ayuntamiento will feature a mesh of garlands for the first time, and luminous Christmas trees will be installed in several squares. The installation is being carried out by the company awarded the contract, Iluminaciones Flores e Hijos, whose workers have spent several weeks placing the necessary infrastructure, such as the wiring and metal tubes that support the luminous arches in areas where it is not possible to attach them to façades or other elements. The Área de Fiestas y Turismo will announce in the coming weeks the festive programme for this Christmas, which includes zambombas, children's activities, the New Year's Eve celebration and the Cabalgata de Reyes, among other proposals, according to the Ayuntamiento de Alhaurín de la Torre.
