The Hospitalarias Málaga Foundation organises a conference on Alzheimer's and mental health

The event, on 24 September at the Hospitalarias centre, will address dementia from a gender perspective and present a shelter project for women victims of gender-based violence with mental health problems.

The Fundación Hospitalarias Málaga is holding, on Thursday, 24 de septiembre, from 18.00 to 20.15 horas, a day dedicated to alzhéimer and mental health, according to the note sent by the Diócesis de Málaga. The event will take place in the salón de actos of the centro de las Hospitalarias, on calle San Juan Bosco, 41.

After the opening, at 18.00 horas, the first round table will be held, titled «Demencia desde una perspectiva de género». Participants are Celia García, a doctor specialising in psychiatry, doctora en Ciencias de la Salud and professor at the Departamento de Historia de la Medicina of the Universidad de Málaga (UMA), and Ricardo Bustos, a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist. The table will be moderated by María Dolores Nieto de Haro, a doctor specialising in geriatrics and head of the Área de Mayores of the Fundación Hospitalarias Málaga.

After a round of discussion, the Proyecto Jacaranda will be presented, a shelter home for women victims of gender violence with mental health problems. The presentation will be given by its coordinator in Sevilla, the psychologist Marisa Cotoli.

The day will end with a musical performance by the Grupo Hispania and a time of fellowship among those attending.
