The parish of la Amargura, in Málaga, hosts on Saturday, November 7 at 19.30 hours the thanksgiving Eucharist for the 80th anniversary of the Hermandad Obrera de Acción Católica (HOAC). The celebration recalls the task to which the Church called the organization in 1946: to be witnesses of Jesus Christ in the midst of the working world. The HOAC in the diocese of Málaga is organized in life teams and makes its decisions in an assembly manner. Its members participate in the life of the parishes and in diocesan tasks, and maintain a personal, environmental commitment and in structures such as civil associations, unions and political parties, as explained by the Diócesis de Málaga. The commemoration also includes a Cursillo de Doctrina Social de la Iglesia open to those who wish to continue training, which will be held on November 7 and December 12 in the same parish of la Amargura.

An anniversary that looks to the present

The organization states that its presence is directed to those who suffer job insecurity, to those who are discarded in their jobs, to those who do not have decent housing, to those who suffer marginalization for being migrants and to women treated as second-class citizens. To this end, it indicates, it relies on prayer, the sacraments, insertion in the parishes and the study of the Word of God. Looking to the future, the HOAC points to integral ecology, housing, migrations, the insertion of artificial intelligence in daily life, health, education and culture as challenges. The organization recalls slogans from these years such as «La Persona es lo Primero», «El Trabajo es Para la Vida» and «Cuidar el trabajo para cuidar la Vida».
