The MUCAC La Coracha museum is hosting from this Thursday the exhibition 'La Fiesta, Verdiales de Málaga', a journey through the history, evolution and current relevance of this cultural manifestation of the province. The exhibition can be viewed until March 14, 2027 and is curated by the art historian and flamenco expert Lourdes Gálvez del Postigo.

Four sections

Contemporary proposals

The exhibition includes proposals by current artists, such as that of Timsam Harding, who studies sound from perception and vibration, or that of the violinist Luz Prado with 'Violineros', an investigation into the ways of approaching the violin in the province taking the Fiesta as a starting point. These pieces are joined by a musical performance in the room. The cinematic gaze is provided by the short film 'El mundanal ruido', by David Muñoz, which follows José Luque through the landscapes of the Parque Natural Montes de Málaga.

Lecture series

As part of the exhibition, MUCAC La Coracha will hold a lecture series on this tradition from October to January. The program will begin on October 29 with Victoria Castillo and 'La mujer en la Fiesta de Verdiales'; it will continue on November 5 with Salvador Pendón and 'El cancionero de Lafuente Alcántara en la Fiesta de Verdiales'; and on November 25 with Daniel Villalta and 'Los rituales en la Fiesta de Verdiales'. In January, Jorge Dragón will speak on the 14th, with a title yet to be confirmed; Ramón Soler on the 21st, on the Fiesta and flamenco; and Antonio Mandly on the 28th, with 'La Fiesta de Verdiales en el último teatro de Federico García Lorca'. The presentation was attended by Mariana Pineda, deputy councillor for Culture and Historical Heritage; Luis Lafuente, director of the Public Agency for the management of the Casa Natal de Pablo Ruiz Picasso and other museum and cultural facilities; and the curator of the exhibition.
