The assembly hall of Colegio María Inmaculada in Antequera hosted this Tuesday a technical session on the prevention of suicidal behaviour and self-harm in the educational community. The activity is promoted by the Social Welfare and Family departments of the City Council and is aimed at students of the Centro Adscrito de Magisterio María Inmaculada and at the management teams of the municipality's schools.

Talk and workshops

The psychologist Daniel Fernández, a specialist in suicide prevention and postvention, led the session. The programme combined a talk with workshops to bring these issues into the educational field. The contents addressed the prevention of suicidal behaviour and self-harm, and also postvention, that is, the care and support for people and communities affected after a suicide.

Tools for schools

According to the promoting municipal departments, the proposal seeks to offer a training space for education professionals and Teaching students, in order to provide knowledge and tools to face these situations in the educational community. The session was attended by the deputy mayor delegated for Social Welfare, Alberto Arana, and the councillors for Education, Sara Ríos; Family and Equality, María Sierras; and Youth, Marta González.
