The 11th Orchid and Collector's Plant Fair is held on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 in the outdoor areas of the Parque Botánico-Orquidario de Estepona. Visiting the exhibitors is free and visitors can discover and buy unusual orchid species and collector's plants.
Nurseries from all over Spain
The exhibitors come from different parts of Spain. Among them are Pantropica, Flora del Trópico and Uniquplant, specialising in orchids; Eternal Flower, which makes orchid jewellery; Carniloco, dedicated to carnivorous plants; Todoplant Bulbosas, which works with South African bulbous plants; Suculovers, focused on succulents and crassulas, and Kokedama, with ornamental plants. The offer is aimed both at those new to this world and at those who have been growing them for years.
Workshops with booking
The event includes workshops inside the Orquidario. On Saturday and Sunday, at 11.00, an introductory workshop to the world of orchids is held. On Saturday, at 17.00, there is another one dedicated to carnivorous plants. Capacity is 50 seated people per workshop.
To attend the workshops you need the Orquidario entry ticket, which costs 5 euros for adults and 3 euros for pensioners and people with disabilities, and to book a place. Bookings can be made by email at info@orchidariumestepona.com or by phone on 951 51 70 74.
What to do to take part
You must book a place for the workshops by email or phone and pay the Orquidario entry fee. The fair is held on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 in the outdoor areas of the Parque Botánico-Orquidario; the exhibitor area has free access.
Manuel Lucas, the person in charge of the activity, points out that at specialised fairs like this one you find species that are not usually found in traditional nurseries, and assures that every time «there are more orchid enthusiasts and they know that here they have the opportunity to acquire very interesting specimens for their private collections».
