Málaga brings together more than 80 municipalities at Greencities to address urban challenges
FYCMA hosts the Greencities fair on September 15 and 16, with more than 200 companies and around thirty mayors, held for the first time alongside the Congreso Smart City of the Red Española de Ciudades Inteligentes (RECI).

The Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga (FYCMA) hosts on 15 and 16 September the fair Greencities, Urban Intelligence & Smart Mobility, an event that will bring together more than 80 cities and municipalities with companies and providers to share solutions on sustainability, waste management, lighting, digitalization and mobility, according to the statement issued by the Ayuntamiento de Málaga.
About thirty mayors are expected to take part, along with municipal officials and representatives of urban innovation networks. Among the activities is a panel with representatives from Logroño, Sagunto, Ontinyent and Getafe on the use of artificial intelligence to optimize resources and coordinate urban services.
The City Speakers session will give voice to the ayuntamientos of Ermua, Getafe, Gotarrendura, Irún, La Carolina, La Rinconada, Málaga, Mataró, Montería (Colombia), Ontinyent, San Sebastián and Santomera, which will present projects related to data, artificial intelligence, energy transition and sustainability. The Foro de Alcaldes/as e Innovación will also take place, organized together with COTEC, RECI and Red Innpulso.
More than two hundred companies and entities will be represented at the event, seventy of them present in the exhibition area, with representation from eleven countries. The exhibition space will showcase technologies in artificial intelligence, data management, mobility, waste, lighting, decarbonization, water and infrastructure.
The content program will feature 115 speakers who will address the use of data and artificial intelligence in public management, sustainability and smart mobility. The Open Call for Startups will also take place, selecting emerging projects; among the finalists are 3HUB-Biotonomy, Launch4, TECO Mobility, Bideroad and IntelliAlert Technologies, with proposals on urban vegetation, energy, mobility, road maintenance and flood prediction through artificial intelligence.
RECI Smart City Congress
As a novelty of this edition, Greencities will be held for the first time in parallel with the VI Congreso Smart City of the Red Española de Ciudades Inteligentes (RECI), which this year coincides with the network's 15th anniversary, made up of more than 170 cities and diputaciones. Each event will keep its own identity and program.
The RECI congress will address issues such as artificial intelligence in public administrations, digital twins, technological sovereignty, cybersecurity, funding for urban innovation projects and smart tourism. Among its highlights is the Declaración de Málaga, which will gather the commitment of RECI cities to a responsible, transparent and people-centered use of artificial intelligence in the urban field, as well as the presentation of the Premios RECI.
The fair is organized by FYCMA, of the Ayuntamiento de Málaga, and co-organized by the technology trade association AMETIC. According to the statement, sponsors and collaborators include entities such as Telefónica, Innovasur, Orange Empresas, Agrojardín, the Consejería de Sostenibilidad y Medio Ambiente, COTEC, the Universidad de Málaga, Emasa, Limpieza de Málaga, Parque Cementerio de Málaga, Smart City Cluster, the Federación Andaluza de Municipios y Provincias (FAMP), the Federación Española de Municipios y Provincias (FEMP), RECI and Red Innpulso.
The edition was presented at a press conference with the participation of the mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre; the concejala de Innovación, Digitalización y Captación de Inversiones, Alicia Izquierdo; the delegada territorial de Sostenibilidad y Medio Ambiente, Gemma del Corral, and the director general of AMETIC, Celestino García.
