Fuengirola Town Council is renewing 22 recycling banks, the waste collection bins, at various points around the city. The work has a budget of 594,158.40 euros and an execution period of 106 calendar days, according to the Council.
What is being fixed
The work will restore facilities that had been out of service due to breakdowns, deterioration or damage caused by storms and proximity to the sea, especially at some points along the promenade, where the oldest banks are located.
The intervention is carried out in three phases. First, the existing facilities are prepared, with dismantling, cleaning and waterproofing of the pits and a review of the electrical wiring. Then the new equipment, adapted to each site, is supplied and installed. Finally, tests and checks are carried out before putting them into service.
Where the work is being done
The works are being carried out in stages on avenida Miramar, calle Héroes de Baler, Camino de la Condesa, avenida Condes de San Isidro, several areas of the promenade and calle Churruca, among other points.
Fuengirola has a total of 343 recycling banks in the municipality, so the intervention covers 22 of them, those whose renewal requires more extensive work than a conventional repair.
Who explains it
The mayor, Ana Mula, has stated that «this action allows us to renew facilities that, due to their state of conservation, needed in-depth work to provide service with guarantees again». Mula offered this information together with the councillor responsible for the area, Carmen Díaz, during a visit to the bins on calle Camino de la Condesa.
The works have been awarded to the company Fabricados Electromecánicos Estévez Fabrez, S.L.
