Ronda's hotels were nearly full during the October 12 long weekend, with an occupancy rate of 98.43%. The Councillor for Tourism, Ángel Martínez, has stated that the city is experiencing "a good moment at a tourism level" and has put the number of visitors received during these holiday days at more than 31,000, which practically doubles the population of the town.
Origin of the visitors
The Municipal Tourist Office attended to almost 3,000 people. According to Martínez, there is a balance between domestic and international tourism. Among Spanish visitors, Andalusia stands out, with Seville particularly prominent, along with the Valencian Community and Madrid. Internationally, France, Germany and Italy stand out, as well as long-haul markets such as the United States and Canada.
El Desfiladero del Tajo, the main attraction
El Camino del Desfiladero del Tajo, which completed its route on September 16 with its second phase, has established itself as one of the attractions that draws the most visitors. So far this year it has recorded more than 162,000 visits. The councillor has assured that the path "has reaffirmed itself this long weekend as one of the city's greatest attractions".
Mobility and parking
Martínez has drawn attention to moments of saturation in urban mobility during periods of greatest influx. The City Council is studying creating a temporary car park at the fairground with a shuttle to the centre to ease this situation.
The councillor has stressed the economic boost that tourism brings to the city in terms of job creation. "Ronda is a more prosperous city every day, so I invite you to enjoy and value this sweet moment we are experiencing," he concluded.
