Driver who fled after running over a 12-year-old arrested in Torremolinos
The alleged perpetrator was located at Málaga airport as he was about to travel to Manchester, a day after hitting the boy on Calle Francisco de Jorge Gallardo and fleeing the scene.

The boy was on his way to his school when he was hit. He suffered a skull fracture and was taken to the Hospital Materno Infantil de Málaga, where he remains admitted.
Investigation leads to the airport
As soon as the incident became known, officers began an investigation that allowed them to identify the vehicle involved, a car belonging to a rental company. Based on these efforts, Local Police officers went to Málaga airport following the trail of the car and the person who had used it.
There they confirmed that the person under investigation was scheduled to take a flight to Manchester that same Wednesday. The Local Police informed the National Police of the facts, whose officers located him and had him get off the plane before departure.
Subsequently, Torremolinos Local Police officers proceeded to arrest him as the alleged person responsible for the hit-and-run and took him to police facilities. The detainee remains at the Torremolinos Local Police Headquarters pending referral to the courts.
According to the statement issued by the Ayuntamiento de Torremolinos, the arrest took place just one day after the incident thanks to coordination between the Local Police and the National Police.
