Diputación will approve 1.4 million on Tuesday, September 23 for the Villa del Guadalhorce road
The grant will finance the first phase, about three kilometers, of the last pending stretch of this road, a long-standing demand of the residents of the pedanía, according to the Ayuntamiento de Alhaurín el Grande.

The Plenary Session of the Diputación de Málaga is expected to approve, on Tuesday, September 23, a direct subsidy of approximately 1.4 million euros to fund the first phase of the improvement works on the last pending stretch of the carretera de Villa del Guadalhorce, as announced by the Ayuntamiento de Alhaurín el Grande.
The action affects a stretch of about three kilometers, between the rotonda de la carretera de Cártama a Coín and the area around the camino de Pie Gallina, up to approximately kilometer point 2+800. This is the first of the two phases into which the Diputación decided to split the improvement project for this road, which connects the town center of Alhaurín el Grande with the pedanía of Villa del Guadalhorce.
According to the councilwoman for Public Works, Teresa Sánchez, the Diputación began the administrative procedures in July to grant this funding. The municipal Public Works department is already working on preparing the tender in order to speed up the timelines once the subsidy is approved. Sánchez has stated that the transfer is expected to take place before the end of the year.
The mayor, Anthony Bermúdez, has stressed that this infrastructure is key for communication between the town center of Alhaurín el Grande and Villa del Guadalhorce, and for improving the municipality's connection with the rest of the Valle del Guadalhorce and with the city of Málaga. Bermúdez has indicated that the Ayuntamiento will continue negotiating with the Diputación to fund and carry out the second stretch of the road, up to the pedanía.
The councilwoman for the pedanía, Susana García, has described the announcement as especially relevant news for the residents of Villa del Guadalhorce, who have demanded the improvement of this road for years. García has noted that this demand was one of the reasons that led her to join municipal politics, and has described the state of the road as a situation residents have "endured and suffered" for a long time.
Representatives of the municipal Government team will attend the Diputación's Plenary Session on Tuesday, September 23 to accompany the vote and convey the Ayuntamiento's gratitude to the provincial institution.
Connection with the A-355
In addition to this stretch, the Ayuntamiento is holding talks with the Junta de Andalucía to promote the connection of the carretera de Villa del Guadalhorce with the A-355 motorway. The mayor has noted that Alhaurín el Grande is, according to his data, the only municipality with more than 20,000 inhabitants in the province of Málaga without a direct connection to a motorway.
The Ayuntamiento has indicated that both the completion of the carretera de Villa del Guadalhorce and the connection with the A-355 are part of the infrastructure and mobility actions being discussed with various administrations.
