The Bishop of Málaga presides over the installation of three new parish priests in Melilla
José Antonio Satué accompanied the changeover of several priests in Melilla over the weekend, including the new episcopal vicar, José Luis Pastor, who takes over the parish of Sagrado Corazón after eight years of Eduardo Resa.

The Catholic community of Melilla experienced this weekend the changeover of several of its parish priests, in a process presided over by the Bishop of Málaga, José Antonio Satué, who arrived in the city on Saturday, September 19.
That same evening, Satué presided at the parish of Sagrado Corazón over the mass in which José Luis Pastor, episcopal vicar of Melilla, took office as the new parish priest. Beforehand, there had been the farewell of Eduardo Resa, who for the last eight years has been parish priest and vicar of the autonomous city, in a celebration attended by the president of the Ciudad Autónoma, Juan José Imbroda.
Pastor gave thanks, before his oath, for «this gift» and stated that he arrives in Melilla «with a deep desire to be of service» to the community. According to the note sent by the Diócesis de Málaga, three priests are arriving in the city who, together with the permanent deacon Fernando Moreno, form a team of five people serving the Church in Melilla. Pastor also had words of gratitude for his predecessor, Eduardo Resa.
The Consejo parroquial thanked, on behalf of the community, Resa's work and offered its cooperation to the new parish priest. The mass, with the image of the Virgen de la Victoria, patron saint of Melilla, was concelebrated by the outgoing and incoming priests and was attended by representatives of the local authorities. After the eucharist, the bishop and priests held a meeting with faithful from the different parishes.
On Sunday morning, September 20, the taking of office of Antonio Jesús Sosa as parish priest of Santa María Micaela was held, whose appointment was read out by vicar Pastor. Sosa asked the community «to help one another so that, as we walk, we may all together do what the Lord wants». In the homily, Bishop Satué noted that «God seeks us, and as a friend says, when we get lost, He sets up rescue mechanisms, through excellent people, events that force us to stop, and unexpected situations, that force us to look to the Lord».
On Sunday afternoon, the taking of office of Daniel Gutiérrez as parish priest of San Agustín took place, replacing father Víctor Hugo Andrade, who furthermore becomes parish administrator of the Medalla Milagrosa, a church that currently remains closed to worship.
