Las Protegidas opens the Veladilla de San Miguel with the proclamation by Paco "El Apañao"
The singer Francisco Gumersindo and the girl Erika Ramos Algarín, aged twelve, delivered the adult and children's proclamations that opened the festival in the Plaza de Andalucía, in Nerja.

The neighbourhood of Las Protegidas, in Nerja, has kicked off the Veladilla de San Miguel with a proclamation given by the singer Francisco Gumersindo, known as Paco "El Apañao", in the Plaza de Andalucía, according to the statement issued by the Ayuntamiento de Nerja. The girl Erika Ramos Algarín, aged twelve, was in charge of reading the children's proclamation.
The event was attended by the mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo; the Councillor for Popular Traditions, Elena Gálvez; the alcaldesa pedánea, Vanesa Gumersindo; the president of the Asociación de Vecinos de Las Protegidas, José Miguel Ortuño; members of the Corporación Municipal, the Juez de Paz and representatives of local associations.
The mayor thanked the Asociación de Vecinos and the people who collaborate in organising the Veladilla for their work in keeping the celebration going, which he considered linked to the identity of the neighbourhood.
Recognition and music
The day included the presentation of the Galardón a Toda una Vida Dedicada a Las Protegidas to María Álvarez, "Mari Alaminos". The programme concluded with the XIV Encuentro de Coros Rocieros José García Conejero "Batalla", in which groups from Nerja, Frigiliana, Almayate and Málaga took part.
