Marcos Delgado, of the Real Club Mediterráneo, has been proclaimed world champion of beach sprint in the inclusive mixed doubles modality alongside the Galician Rocío Fraguela, of the Club Mar de Noia. The Spanish pair defeated the Brazilian pair formed by Valdeni and Joice Emily Da Silva in the final with a time of 2:45.36 versus 3:02.58, more than 17 seconds ahead.

A gold with authority

The triumph comes after Delgado and Fraguela were proclaimed European champions last September in La Línea de la Concepción. In Qingdao they recorded the best time of the opening day and beat the United States in the semifinals by more than eight seconds.

Teresa Díaz narrowly misses a medal

Teresa Díaz, also of the Real Club Mediterráneo, has finished in fourth position in mixed doubles alongside the Alicante native Miguel Salas, of the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante. The pair beat Great Britain in the round of 16 by 35 hundredths of a second and the Netherlands in the quarterfinals, but lost to Lithuania in the semifinals and then in the bronze medal match against Poland.

Spain, second in the medal table

The Spanish national team has closed the championship with two golds and one bronze, in second position in the medal table behind China. The Qingdao World Championship has brought together 222 crews from 53 countries, at a relevant event for beach sprint, which will debut as an Olympic discipline in Los Angeles 2028. The results in the Olympic events have also allowed Spain to qualify for the 2027 Beach Sprint World Series. The Real Club Mediterráneo has congratulated its two athletes for the results obtained in the waters of the Yellow Sea.
