The Local Government Board has approved the call for grants to organize sports events in 2026, with 40,500 euros, 20,500 more than in 2025. Each project may receive up to 3,000 euros and the application period will be 20 calendar days from its publication in the BOPMA.
Clubs, associations and sports entities in Málaga now know how much money they will have to organise their events in 2026. The Local Government Board has approved the call for subsidies for the organisation of sports events that year, endowed with 40,500 euros, according to the City Council. The amount is 20,500 euros more than that allocated in 2025.
Up to 3,000 euros per project
The grants are awarded under a competitive bidding system, that is, they are distributed among the best-rated projects. Clubs, associations and entities registered in the Andalusian Register of Sports Entities and in the Municipal Register of Associations and Entities (RMAE) may apply. The maximum amount per project is 3,000 euros and, in no case may the municipal contribution exceed 90 percent of the total cost of the event.
The money covers expenses such as the rental of sports facilities and spaces, excluding municipal fees and taxes; refereeing; trophies; solid and liquid refreshments and medical services; public liability insurance; posters or advertising for the event; necessary transport; personnel costs for carrying out the activity; and travel for participants coming from another municipality.
Which events can be financed
The subsidies will cover exclusively the expenses derived from the organisation of sports events during the period between January 1 and November 30, 2026.
Processing will preferably be carried out electronically at the City Council of Málaga's electronic headquarters, at sede.malaga.eu. The submission period is 20 calendar days from the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of Málaga (BOPMA).
Other Board agreements
At the same meeting, the City Council's application to participate in the 2026 INEA call for energy efficiency actions in the OMAU building has been approved, with a total budget of 575,493.55 euros, of which 158,516 euros come from ERDF funds and the rest, 416,977.55 euros, from municipal financing.
A project for an ecotourism complex promoted by Lare Hotel Group, S.L. on a 14.1-hectare plot of rural land in the La Junqueña-Olías area, in the Este district, has also been admitted for processing. The project envisages 24 accommodations for 70 people and an estimated investment of five million euros. A one-month public information period will be opened.
In addition, the agreement with the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development has been modified to finance 50% of the drafting of the project for actions on the Guadalmedina river between the Armiñán and Perchel bridges, with one million euros from each administration.
