The Cristóbal Guerrero Indoor Sports Centre, in the San Francisco neighbourhood, will be fully renovated. Ronda City Council has given the go-ahead to a repair works project with an investment of 696,903.44 euros, according to the mayor, Mari Paz Fernández.

Damp and structural problems

The councillor for Sports, Nardi Crespo, explained that the facilities have damp problems due to roof and structural issues. The work will repair those roofs and the structural problems, and will renew the floor of the main court, the toilets and changing rooms, the motors of the basketball courts and the electrical and insulation systems. It also includes replacing the windows and putting the lift into service for the three floors. According to Crespo, the renovation will allow the facilities to be "practically inaugurated".

Who it affects

The sports centre is used by users of the Municipal Sports Area, clubs and the Fernando de los Ríos school, of the Fundación Unicaja Ronda. During the works, activities will be relocated with the least possible impact for users, as detailed by the councillor for Sports.

Works schedule

The works would begin at the end of this year or the beginning of the next and would last, in principle, one year, as indicated by Crespo. The project was approved at the Local Government Board chaired by the mayor, Mari Paz Fernández.
