The format 'Hablando se entiende la ciencia', hosted by the communicator Javier Atencia, is built around round tables that will address different current issues from the perspective of research, encouraging debate and the exchange of views with attendees.

In this case, the session 'Salud: cuerpo y mente' will feature the following talks:
· Tu reloj interno y tu mente: cómo el cronotipo influye en la salud mental / Juan Manuel Antúnez Vílchez

(Departamento de Personalidad, Evaluación y Tratamiento Psicológico)

The talk addresses how individual differences in circadian rhythms (being a morning, intermediate, or evening person) condition the risk of developing disorders such as depression or substance abuse. Through the concept of social jet lag, it will be explained why the mismatch between the biological clock and social schedules has real consequences on mental health.
· MIND-GREEN’: mindfulness in nature through ICT and geolocation / Blanca Iglesias Rosado (UGC Salud Mental, Hospital Regional Universitario de Málaga)

The MIND-GREEN project evaluates the effectiveness of a mindfulness-based intervention in natural settings, supported by a mobile app with geolocation, for people with depression. The study consists of a randomized clinical trial in which usual treatment will be compared with usual treatment complemented by an eight-week program that guides participants in performing mindfulness practices in nearby green and blue spaces. The goal is to analyze whether this combination can improve depressive symptoms and promote psychological well-being in a way that is accessible, personalized, and based on scientific evidence.
· La obesidad y el cerebro: El impacto de la dieta en la salud mental / David Baglietto Vargas (Departamento de Biología Celular, Genética y Fisiología)

Obesity is a metabolic disease that promotes the development of multiple conditions, including various brain-related issues. Maintaining healthy lifestyle habits is essential to keep both your body and your mind healthy. During the talk, Professor Baglietto will explain, among other issues, how diet can influence our brain and what activities are recommended to maintain a healthy lifestyle and a healthy brain.
· Objetos cotidianos como herramientas para la monitorización de la salud / Rafael Villalba Bravo

(Departamento de Electrónica)

Smart wearable electronic devices, especially smartwatches, are increasingly being used and recommended as support tools for monitoring physiological variables. Furthermore, there is a population where these tools can play a key role in prevention: more dependent older people. Professor Villalba's research seeks to adapt smart electronics into a cane and a walker with advanced sensors. This is a strategy that allows for the immediate adoption of a wearable by people who already use mobility assistance devices, without the need to adopt or modify habits. The final goal is the early prevention or detection of risk events that could alert caregivers or medical staff to complement the daily care and context of the user.
