Málaga's municipal libraries host free activities from October 16 to 22

Six libraries in the Carretera de Cádiz, Centro, Este, Ciudad Jardín, Campanillas and Puerto de la Torre districts take part in the III Semana de la Proximidad with exhibitions, book clubs, a lecture and storytelling for all audiences.

The municipal libraries of Málaga offer from October 16 to 22 a programme of free activities for all audiences as part of the III Semana de la Proximidad, organised by the Ayuntamiento through the Área de Participación Ciudadana with the collaboration of the Fundación Foro Nesi.

Exhibitions and talks

The Vicente Espinel library, in the Puerto de la Torre district, hosts the exhibition El Quijote en Málaga, a visual tour with 15 panels illustrated by Ángel Idígoras and Pachi that bring the adventures of Don Quijote and Sancho to emblematic places in the city. It can be visited Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 21:00. At the Jorge Guillén library, in the Centro, María Zambrano, corazón de pensamiento is on display, with 14 murals with texts by Emilia García and illustrations by Natalia Resnik about the philosopher from Málaga. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 9:30 to 14:00 and on Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:30 to 20:30. On October 21 at 18:00, the Jorge Guillén hosts the talk Perchel hacia 1831, by Esteban Alcántara, president of the Asociación Torrijos, aimed at young and adult audiences.

Book clubs and storytelling

The book clubs meet at three libraries: the Jorge Guillén on October 19 at 17:00 with the book Dorayaki, by Durian Sukegawa; the Dámaso Alonso, in Ciudad Jardín, on October 22 at 19:00 with Libre, by Lea Ypi; and the Serafín Estébanez Calderón, in Campanillas, on October 22 at 18:30 with Hotel Savoy, by Joseph Roth. The activity Cuentos al aire brings reading and entertainment sessions to the parks of the Carretera de Cádiz district: to the parque del Oeste on October 19 and 21, and to the parque María Luisa on the 16, 20 and 22, always at 18:00. The Emilio Prados library, in the Este district, receives visits from students of the district on October 16 at 10:00 to learn about its facilities and services.
