The Málaga City Council reports mobility disruptions on Saturday 10, Monday 12 and from Tuesday, October 13 due to processional departures, the Ironman setup and progress on metro line 2.
Málaga City Council, through the Mobility Department, has announced the traffic disruptions expected in the coming days in the city, caused by processional departures, the set-up of the Ironman sporting event and the progress of the metro works.
Processions on Saturday and Monday
On Saturday, October 10, from 17:30 hours, the extraordinary processional departure of the 25th anniversary of the Santísimo Cristo de Hermandad y Caridad de Puerto de la Torre takes place, with a route that runs along avenida Lope de Rueda, carril del Molino, parque Virgen de las Cañas and other surrounding streets to its brotherhood house.
That same day, from 18:15 hours, the procession of Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Santo Domingo takes place, which passes through plaza Fray Alonso de Santo Tomás, Hilera, the Basílica de La Esperanza, San Jacinto and other streets in the centre until returning to its starting point.
On Monday, October 12, from 9:30 hours, the Rosario de la Aurora procession of Hermandad Mediadora is held, departing from the San Patricio parish and with a route along avenida Sor Teresa Prat, avenida de la Paloma, Emilio Prados, Lepanto and nearby streets.
Ironman and metro works
From Tuesday, October 13 to Monday, October 19, due to the set-up, running and dismantling of the Ironman sporting event, pedestrian traffic on the south pavement of Paseo del Parque is cancelled and no passenger pick-ups or drop-offs will take place in that area. Bus stops in the El Palo direction move to the north pavement of Paseo del Parque, plaza de La Marina, Alameda Principal, calle Victoria and paseo de Reding.
From Tuesday, October 13, due to the progress of the works on metro line 2, road traffic will be cut on calle Blas de Lezo, in the section between calle Valverde and avenida Arroyo de los Ángeles. Only vehicles heading to the underground car parks on that street will be able to pass. The new arrangement involves changes to access and traffic on the perpendicular streets, such as pasaje Niceto Ramírez, Bresca, Sebastián de Eslava, Tejares, Segismundo Moret and Nicolás Salmerón.
