The Banda Municipal de Música de Málaga offers a free concert on Sunday, October 11, at 18:30, on the occasion of Día de la Hispanidad. The performance takes place on the esplanade of the Santuario de la Victoria and admission is free until full capacity is reached.

Spanish and Latin American repertoire

The programme, conducted by Francisco Miguel de Haro, opens with Suspiros de España, by Antonio Álvarez Alonso, and continues with Manuel de Falla, whose Pantomima and Danza ritual del fuego, from El amor brujo, are performed. Then comes Del norte y del sur, by Julio Gómez García. The second part travels through Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina and Cuba. It includes Conga del fuego nuevo, by Arturo Márquez; Gabriella, by Victoriano Valencia; the Joropo by Moisés Moleiro; Libertango, by Astor Piazzolla, and closes with Malagueña, by Ernesto Lecuona, from the suite Andalucía.

A band more than a century and a half old

The Banda Municipal de Música del Ayuntamiento de Málaga was founded in 1859 and is one of the oldest in Spain. For years it was the city's only own and stable musical ensemble. Its purpose is to spread and bring music closer to the public and to contribute to its teaching, with a concert season throughout the year, performances for schoolchildren and associations, and a presence at the city's official events.

How to attend

The concert is on Sunday, October 11, at 18:30 on the esplanade of the Santuario de la Victoria. No ticket or registration is needed: access is free and open until the venue's capacity is reached.
