MEET premieres in Málaga the exhibition 'Noticings' by photographer Patrick Sansone
MEET has presented the world premiere of 'Noticings', by American photographer and musician Patrick Sansone, a selection of works made between 2019 and 2024 that reflect the decline of the American dream. The show is part of the XIII Moments Festival.
From this Friday, MEET hosts the world premiere of 'Noticings', by American photographer and musician Patrick Sansone. The exhibition, curated by Juanjo M. Fuentes, brings together a selection of works made between 2019 and 2024.
What can be seen
Sansone's gaze has been drawn for years to the remains and vestiges of small-town mid-20th-century America. Worn signs, closed shop windows and empty lots acquire, through the filter of the Covid-19 lockdown, a new resonance. They are dated and, at the same time, timeless images that seem to show how the slow decline of the American dream has spread from its core outward.
The show includes both photographs featured in the book 'Noticings' and works made in the following years, between 2022 and 2024. The book, Sansone's second monograph, was published fifteen years after '100 Polaroids' and is made up of images taken between the winter of 2019 and the summer of 2021.
The artist's career
Patrick Sansone is a photographer and musician. Born in Meridian, Mississippi, and living in Nashville, Tennessee, his photographic work focuses on observing the everyday American landscape through analogue processes. His work has been published in the photobooks '100 Polaroids' and 'Noticings'. In parallel, he pursues an international music career as a member of Wilco and co-founder of The Autumn Defense.
