The two courses are already underway and are divided between the kitchen and the reception of tourist establishments. Fifteen unemployed people are taking a kitchen assistant course, with theory classes at the Edificio Colores, and another fifteen are doing the same in the receptionist course for tourist establishments, which is taught at the Tenencia de Alcaldía de Los Boliches.
310 hours and internships at companies
Each course lasts 310 hours, of which 150 are carried out as internships at companies in the sector. Participants were selected for being unemployed or in a situation of vulnerability and for belonging to one of the groups with the most difficulties in accessing a job, in this case people over 45.
The initiative is called En Ruta and is promoted by the Ayuntamiento de Fuengirola with funding from European Funds. In this first phase, 30 residents of the municipality are taking part.
More courses planned
The Ayuntamiento and the Diputación have announced that they will continue collaborating on new training actions for unemployed people. Specifically, they will launch two more courses soon and are already working on a third.
The mayor of Fuengirola, Ana Mula, has stated that training is key to accessing a good job and has placed young people and those over 45 among the groups that have the most difficulties in entering the labour market. The councillor for Training and Employment, Isaac Vargas, and the provincial deputy for the area, María del Carmen Márquez, were also present at the presentation of the group.
What needs to be done
The two courses are aimed at unemployed people registered in Fuengirola and the selection of students is already closed, with fifteen participants per course. For the upcoming announced courses, no deadline, requirements or registration method have been provided yet.
