Málaga fall to Villarreal 1-3 at La Rosaleda

Juanfran Funes's team went ahead with a goal from Dotor, but Villarreal came back with a brace from Gueye and a goal from Moleiro in front of 28,505 spectators.

Málaga CF lost on Thursday, September 17, by 1-3 to Villarreal CF in a match played at La Rosaleda, with 28,505 people in the stands, according to the note sent by the club.

The team led by Juanfran Funes took the lead in minute 11. Larrubia started the play through the center of the field and found Cruz on the right wing. The winger assisted Dotor at the edge of the box, who scored after the ball touched a visiting defender.

Villarreal equalized before halftime with a goal by Moleiro in minute 39 and, shortly after, in minute 45+2, Gueye put his team ahead just before the break.

In the second half, the Málaga coach made several changes: Rafita and Dani Lorenzo came on for Salinas and Cruz at the start of the second half; Joaquín and Niño replaced Dotor and Izan M. around minute 66; and Ramón took the place of C. Puga shortly after. Despite attempts to equalize, Villarreal extended their lead with a second goal by Gueye in minute 86, which set the final result at 1-3.

Málaga's starting lineup was made up of A. Herrero in goal; C. Puga, Recio, Einar and Salinas in defense; D. Larrubia, Martínez, Izan M. and Cruz in midfield; and Dotor and Chupe up front.

With this result, Málaga CF remains without a win this season. The team will seek its first victory on Sunday, September 20, against Getafe CF, in a match to be played at the Coliseum at 14:00 hours.
