Fuengirola incorporates eight electric vehicles and a network of 80 electric bicycles

The Fuengirola City Council has launched a series of actions to make mobility in the city more sustainable, within Axis 2 of the Tourist Sustainability Plan in Destination «Fuengirola + Turismo. Por un destino más sostenible e inteligente». According to the note sent by the City Council, of the 525,000 euros planned for this axis, more than 520,000 euros have been executed, 99.16% of the budget. The most notable action has been the renewal of the vehicle fleet of the municipal operational services, with the incorporation of eight one hundred percent electric vehicles: five vans, a vehicle with a tipping box, a motorcycle and a car, all electric. To support these vehicles, 12 dual-socket chargers have been installed, adding up to 24 charging points, distributed across four municipal facilities: the Ayuntamiento, the Nave de Limpieza de Camino de Santiago, the Policía Local and the Nave de Servicios Operativos. Electric bicycles for residents and visitors The third action has been the launch of a network of electric bicycles aimed at residents and visitors. The system has 80 bicycles and ten parking and charging stations, a higher figure than the nine stations initially planned. The stations incorporate technology that makes it possible to know bicycle availability and obtain usage and energy consumption data. This axis is part of a plan financed entirely with European funds, within the Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia, which has an overall budget of 2,498,580 euros divided into four axes. Of the plan as a whole, 2,479,678.28 euros have been executed, 99.24% of the grant awarded. The Councillor for Innovation, Isabel González, stated that «we are acting on all fronts: we are electrifying the municipal fleet, creating charging points and offering new sustainable mobility alternatives to residents and visitors».
