The UMA presents its Cátedra Empresa with Unicaja, AENOR, GOBID and SEPIN
Rector Teodomiro López chaired the presentation of the new Cátedra Empresa UMA at the Rectorado, followed by a conference on risk management, sustainability and digitalization with representatives from the four sponsoring companies.

The University of Málaga (UMA) presented this Monday at the Rectorado the Cátedra Empresa UMA, an initiative born within the Mercantile Law area of the Department of Derecho Privado Especial and led by professor Juan Ignacio Peinado. The event, chaired by the rector, Teodomiro López, was attended by the four sponsoring companies: Unicaja, AENOR, GOBID and SEPIN.
The Cátedra is conceived as a space for exchange between the university, companies, business organizations and professionals, with the aim of promoting training, outreach, applied research and knowledge transfer in risk management, sustainability and digitalization, according to the statement issued by UMA.
Its objectives include developing specialized training for students, professionals and companies, creating a stable university-business community, fostering applied research and strengthening employability and business competitiveness. Its activity is organized into six thematic lines: risks, compliance and governance; corporate sustainability; digitalization and artificial intelligence; technological risks and digital markets; financial risks and insolvency; and business continuity and transformation.
Among the announced projects, notable is the creation of a permanent space for applied artificial intelligence at the Facultad de Derecho, equipped with computers and software licenses provided by SEPIN, as well as the launch of a joint publishing collection with this company.
The secretary of the Cátedra, Jorge Manrique de Lara, presented the general lines of action and the activity plan for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Session on risks and sustainability
After the institutional event, the Cátedra held its first session, dedicated to business risk management, sustainability and digitalization, with the participation of representatives from the sponsoring companies.
In the block "La Cátedra desde la empresa" speakers included Pilar Ruiz-Giménez Úbeda, Sustainability Director at Unicaja; Antonio Pérez Carreño, Territorial Director for Andalucía and Extremadura at AENOR; Federico Mezzanotte, CEO of GOBID España; and Ángel Pastor Berrocosa, General Director of SEPIN.
The session on insolvency risk featured Ana Armijo, Director of the Mercantile and Insolvency Legal Department at SEPIN, and Eva Cascales Domínguez, head of the central zone at GOBID, who discussed restructuring plans and negotiation with creditors.
Mayrata Conesa, ESG, Compliance and Good Governance manager at AENOR, presented the UNE-ISO standardization as a tool to manage conflicts of interest, while Evaristo Ramírez, Director of Strategy and Sustainability at Unicaja, explained the requirements and instruments of green and sustainable financing.
The session closed with a talk on talent management by Loren Juarros, sporting director of Málaga CF, focused on team management and team culture.
