Mijas celebrates the 40th edition of its Theatre Festival from September 24 to 27

The Festival de Teatro Villa de Mijas returns to the municipal auditorium Miguel González Berral, at La Muralla, with four performances that will take place from Thursday September 24 to Sunday September 27. All performances will begin at 21:00 hours and admission will be free, according to the note sent by the Ayuntamiento de Mijas. This year the festival celebrates its 40th edition. On Thursday, September 24, the local company Teatro Mijas will open the programme with «Eterno Lorca», a tribute to the Granada-born author bringing together pieces from works such as «La casa de Bernarda Alba», «Yerma», «María Pineda» and «Bodas de sangre». On Friday, September 25, «Yo sólo quiero irme a Francia» will arrive, with actress María Galiana alongside Nieve de Medina, Anna Mayo and María Roja. It is a comedy about identity, abandonment and emotional inheritance between generations, in which humour coexists with drama. On Saturday, September 26, «Survival» will be performed, a comedy about a supposed global collapse experienced through social media, starring Abel Manso. The festival will close on Sunday, September 27 with «The ópera locos», a comic operatic show of international reach in which five opera singers combine great hits of the genre with other musical styles, gestural comedy and clowning. The Councillor for Culture, Juan Carlos Maldonado, has announced the programme and has highlighted that the works span genres ranging from drama to humour, through comedy and contemporary opera. The four performances will take place at the open-air auditorium Miguel González Berral, at La Muralla, with free admission, starting at 21:00 hours each day, from September 24 to 27.
