The plaza de Tabacalera, in the Carretera de Cádiz district, hosts the opening concert of the 2026/2027 season of the Banda Municipal de Música de Málaga, under the direction of Francisco Miguel Haro Sánchez. The program includes a suite from the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet, fantasias from the zarzuelas El barberillo de Lavapiés by Francisco Asenjo Barbieri and La alsaciana by Jacinto Guerrero, and the pasodoble Puenteareas by Reveriano Soutullo.
The Banda Municipal de Música of the Ayuntamiento de Málaga, founded in 1859, is one of the oldest musical ensembles in Spain. Its activity focuses on spreading music among the citizens through its concert season, concerts for schoolchildren and associations, as well as its participation in official events of the city.
