Staff from the Tourism Area of the Mancomunidad de la Costa del Sol-Axarquía carried out follow-up visits this week in Periana and Rincón de la Victoria, accompanied by the auditor authorised by the ICTE, within the second phase of the audit to renew the Q for Tourist Quality.
The Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol-Axarquía is making progress on the audit to review, improve and renew the Q for Tourist Quality certification, awarded by the Instituto para la Calidad Turística Española (ICTE), which certifies compliance with quality standards in the management and provision of tourism services.
Follow-up visits in the region
This week, technicians from the Mancomunidad's Tourism Area carried out follow-up visits to Periana and Rincón de la Victoria, among other points in the region, accompanied by the auditor authorised by the ICTE and by technicians from the consultancy Q Innovate. During the visits, the maintenance of the regulatory requirements and the existence of evidence certifying compliance were verified on the ground.
The action is part of a second phase of the audit work, which verifies the degree of compliance with the requirements both in management processes and in the provision of tourism services. This phase also makes it possible to identify areas for improvement and set the necessary measures.
Quality system indicators
The work focuses on reviewing the indicators of the Tourist Quality Management System and on evaluating the processes linked to the provision of services. The system is based on Standard UNE-ISO 13810:2023, applicable to visits to industrial, natural, cultural and historical spaces.
The president of the Mancomunidad, Jorge Martín, has stated that «with this audit for the renewal of the Q for Quality of the region's routes, the Mancomunidad reaffirms its commitment to continuous improvement and to consolidating quality tourism services».
2025 National Q for Quality Award
According to the Mancomunidad, this work was already recognised with the 2025 National Q for Quality Award, granted by the ICTE and the Secretaría de Estado de Turismo for the certification of the region's tourist routes. The portal reported on September 30, 2026 that the Tourism Area was already working on this same process of review and renewal of the certification.
