The Fuengirola Town Council is carrying out a special cleaning plan in the Recinto Ferial and the surrounding streets once the Feria del Rosario has ended. The intensive cleaning of the fairground took place on Monday, October 13, and since Tuesday, October 14, the work has focused on the surrounding streets.

Streets of the toreros and expansion of the radius

The work has begun with the streets closest to the fairground, known as the streets of the toreros. Over the coming days, the operation will expand its radius of action until it reaches avenida Clemente Díaz and avenida Acapulco. The shock actions in these areas will continue until October 21. The councillor for Cleaning, Carmen Díaz, explained that «once the Feria had ended, on the 13th we dedicated the day mainly to the intensive cleaning of the Recinto Ferial and, from today, we are focusing on a shock cleaning in all the adjacent areas».

Reinforcement during the Feria

Díaz recalled that during the Feria del Rosario the Town Council launched a special cleaning operation with the reinforcement of more than 60 workers, responsible for keeping both the Recinto Ferial and the nearby areas in good condition. The councillor noted that the residents of these areas especially suffer the consequences of uncivil behaviour during the days of the Feria and that, for this reason, once the festivities are over a deeper cleaning is necessary.

Parking in distant streets

Díaz thanked the residents of these areas for their collaboration, in particular for the inconvenience that parking restrictions may cause and the need to park temporarily in streets further from their homes to facilitate the work. «We know it is not comfortable to have to look for parking further from home for a few hours, but it is a necessary measure to improve hygiene and restore the cleaning conditions of these streets after a week of Feria», the councillor concluded.
