The Ayuntamiento de Fuengirola has begun processing the municipal budget for 2027, which amounts to 133,744,274 euros, 17.66% more than the current one. The accounts were approved last week at an Extraordinary Local Government Board meeting, as a prior step to their debate and initial approval in the municipal Pleno.
More money for investments
The largest increase is concentrated in real investments, which grow by 11,857,945.78 euros, reaching 17,744,000 euros, an increase of 201.46% compared with the budget in force. According to the Ayuntamiento, that item includes the construction of the Macrocomplejo Los Boliches, the Nuevo Mercacentro, the second phase of the remodeling of the David Meca pool and the purchase of new machinery for Limpieza Viaria.
Spending on public services also rises, by 6.8% overall. Within that chapter, Limpieza grows by 5.8% and care for people entitled under the Ley de Dependencia increases by 21.5% compared with the previous year.
Taxes frozen
The Ayuntamiento plans to keep debt at zero, freeze municipal taxes and maintain the 30% reductions in taxes for those registered as residents in the city.
The mayor, Ana Mula, has stated that last week's approval represents "the first step to process the municipal budgets for 2027" and has described it as "a key act to guarantee the correct functioning of the Administration".
Next steps
Approval at the Junta de Gobierno is the first step in the process. The next step will be to put the budget to a vote in the municipal Pleno. If it goes ahead, a period of public hearing will open before the accounts can come into force on January 1.
