The Romería de San Miguel in Torremolinos will gather 54 carts on Sunday, September 20
The procession will depart at 10:30 from Avenida de los Manantiales towards Los Pinares, with afternoon music by Los del Río, Ulises Serrano and Carlos Bravo in front of the Ermita de San Miguel.

The Romería de San Miguel is celebrated on Sunday, September 20 in Torremolinos and will gather a total of 54 carts, according to the note sent by the Ayuntamiento.
The day will begin at nine in the morning at the Ermita de San Miguel, with the blessing of the pilgrims and the departure of the patron towards Avenida de los Manantiales, where the romera mass sung by the coro San Miguel will be held. At 10:30 the procession will depart, travelling along Avenida de los Manantiales, Plaza Costa del Sol, Avenida Palma de Mallorca, Avenida Joan Miró, calle Rafael Quintana Rosado, the carretera de Benalmádena and the cruce del Pozuelo, finishing at Los Pinares.
During the route, the traditional cart and tractor contest will be held, in which a jury will score the participants competing for prizes such as the best-decorated tractor or cart, or the most cheerful and lively one. The prizes will be awarded on the Saturday of the feria at the caseta de la Tercera Edad y Asociaciones.
In the afternoon, from 16:45, there will be musical performances on the esplanade in front of the Ermita. Local artists Ulises Serrano and Carlos Bravo will perform before the performance by Los del Río.
The Ayuntamiento will install six troughs along the route for watering the animals, as well as twelve portable toilets along the way and another six in the camping area.
According to the municipal note, participating groups are reminded that the Orden de 21 de mayo de 2009 of the Boletín Oficial de la Junta de Andalucía (BOJA) prohibits, from June 1 to October 15 of each year, lighting fires to prepare food or for any other purpose, including road rest areas and recreational and camping areas, even if they are equipped for it.
Cleaning and security
The cleaning operation will involve 40 workers divided into five sweeping brigades, twelve operatives for cleaning up excrement from oxen and horses, a support vehicle, watering tankers with perfume and disinfectant, three sweepers, an on-call tractor and a refuse collection truck, as well as 140 cardboard bins. After the Romería, another 25 operatives in six brigades will be responsible for cleaning the pine groves and the fairground.
In terms of security, for about eight hours there will be one chief inspector, four sub-inspectors, eight officers and 56 police officers, as well as a mounted unit of the Policía Local de Málaga made up of a sub-inspector, an officer and eight police officers.
The Romería de San Miguel is, according to the Ayuntamiento, one of the urban pilgrimages with the most history in Andalucía. This year marks 86 years since the first one, held on October 1, 1940 at the Fuente de la Salud as a country festival. It was not until 1950 that it began to be celebrated in honour of the patron of Torremolinos, San Miguel Arcángel.
