MálagaCrea presents its young literature awards in narrative, poetry and flash fiction
The final of the Muestra Joven de Literatura ‘MálagaCrea’ 2026 was held on Wednesday, September 16, at La Caja Blanca, with 70 works submitted by young people from the city.

The Muestra Joven de Literatura ‘MálagaCrea’ 2026 already has winners in its three categories. Paula Fernández has won the short narrative award for the work «Cuarenta años bajo el agua»; Pedro Francisco Domínguez has won in poetry with «Nada termina en tierra firme»; and David Yuste has been recognized in microfiction for «Recomendaciones».
The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, September 16 at La Caja Blanca, where the finalist works were read before the verdict was announced. The event was attended by the delegate councillor for Youth, Mercedes Martín.
The short narrative and poetry awards this year carry a prize of 1,200 euros for each winner, while the microfiction award amounts to 300 euros, according to the statement sent by the Ayuntamiento de Málaga.
A total of 70 works by young people from the city were submitted to this edition: 23 in short narrative, 13 in poetry and 34 in microfiction. The jury was made up of Alfonso Jesús Valencia Pérez, Laura Carneros Rodríguez and Cristina Angélica González Bautista.
The Muestra Joven ‘MálagaCrea’ is organized by the Área de Juventud of the Ayuntamiento de Málaga and aims to give visibility to young creators between 15 and 35 years old. The works are evaluated based on criteria such as originality, innovation, experimentation, technique, style, literary devices, rhythm and language.
This call for entries is part of the broader program of the Muestras Culturales ‘MálagaCrea’, which covers disciplines such as visual arts, performing arts, comics, fashion, short films, gastronomy, contemporary music, literature, classical music and video games.
