More than 2,200 people begin Estepona's Escuelas Deportivas on Monday
The Escuelas Deportivas Municipales start on September 28 with 95% of places filled. There are 24 activities and registration remains open throughout the season.

Around 2,200 people will begin their sports activities on Monday, September 28 at the Municipal Sports Schools (EDM) of Estepona, according to information from the Ayuntamiento. The municipal Sports delegation has filled 95% of the 2,250 places offered for the 2026/2027 course, spread across 131 groups.
The program includes 24 sports activities led by qualified sports technicians. Sixteen of them are directly managed by the Ayuntamiento: physical activity for seniors, chess, athletics, handball, adapted sports, stretching, football, GAP (glutes, abs and legs), multidisciplinary training, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, karate, multisport, pilates, psychomotor skills, and step/fitness.
The other eight are run by the Fundación 24 Horas Deportivas and local sports clubs: badminton, basketball, climbing, fencing, golf, padel, tennis and volleyball. The Ayuntamiento points out that the start of these last ones may have different schedules.
The schools with the highest demand in this first period are padel, pilates, football and GAP, which have reached 100% occupancy in all their groups. Prices for the activities range from 5 euros per month, in the case of chess, up to 28 euros per month in padel, tennis or climbing. Depending on the activity, groups admit between eight and thirty people, with classes from one to three days a week.
As for location, approximately 80% of the activities are held at facilities in the Estepona town center. The remaining 20% is split between the Cancelada neighborhood, with groups of chess, rhythmic gymnastics, karate, multidisciplinary training and pilates, and the Arroyo Vaquero and El Paraíso urbanizations, where nine groups of the golf school are located.
How to sign up
Those who have not pre-registered can do so on a first-call basis at the Sports delegation. For groups that have already used up their places, the Ayuntamiento recommends signing up on the waiting lists, in case openings occur.
