PSOE and residents ask the City Council for urgent actions in Los Corazones
The Socialist Municipal Group demands measures from Málaga's governing team against the neglect of the neighbourhood, including resolving the lack of parking following the CaixaForum works, according to a statement issued by the PSOE.

The Socialist Municipal Group at the Málaga City Council has requested in writing a series of urgent actions in the neighbourhood of Los Corazones, gathering demands conveyed by residents.
The socialist councillor Pablo Orellana has pointed out that the CaixaForum works eliminated 300 parking spaces and that the City Council promised to compensate those who used to park there with 160 new spaces in other areas. According to Orellana, five months later there is not a single space nor a planned date for their creation.
The councillor has also pointed out other problems in the neighbourhood: an open trench at a pedestrian crossing in front of the IES Salvador Rueda school, unremoved remains of a fire, unpruned trees next to the buildings, the presence of rats, and cleaning and safety deficiencies. For this reason, he demands that the works in front of the school be finished or provisionally fitted out, that action be taken on the trees and the sources of insalubrity, and that cleaning and surveillance be reinforced in the park located in front of the Santa María Goretti church.
Among the measures proposed by the PSOE are also the installation of bollards to guarantee accessibility on the pavements, the modification of the loading and unloading zone's schedule to recover parking spaces, the creation of a motorcycle zone, and a request that the City Council report on the location and timetable of the promised new parking spaces.
The president of the Corazones del Carmen Residents' Association, José Rivero, has denounced the municipal non-compliance five months after the loss of the 300 spaces. According to Rivero, a series of actions were promised in February and meetings were held with municipal officials in May, without any response so far from the governing team.
Rivero has also requested the placement of bollards at the entrances to prevent vehicles from occupying the pavements, since, as he has explained, people with reduced mobility, elderly people and families with strollers have to step down onto the road as they cannot walk on the pavements.
The neighbourhood association president has also pointed out that the neighbourhood has abandoned infrastructures, including the old centre known as «El Chalecito». Regarding this building, Rivero believes that its possible demolition to build parking spaces should not be the only alternative, and has demanded that the neighbourhood have a day centre, a library and a venue to attend to residents.
