The III Feria de la Juventud Cofrade concluded this Saturday, September 26, at La Caja Blanca with a participation that, according to the Agrupación de Cofradías de Semana Santa de Málaga, organizer of the event, has surpassed that of the two previous editions.

A meeting point for the brotherhoods

From the opening of the stands, La Caja Blanca became a meeting point for brotherhoods and cofradías from the capital and the province. The exhibition spaces showed the public items, documents and photographs of the Vísperas corporations, the Gloria brotherhoods and the cofradías of Vélez-Málaga, Antequera and Archidona. The workshops, children's activities and the throne school allowed the youngest to get closer to the trades and traditions of the life of the brotherhoods.

Music, talks and special programs

Music had a prominent place, with the performance of the Banda de Cornetas y Tambores del Santísimo Cristo de la Redención de Benalmádena and the concerts of the Banda de Música Maestro Artola and Devoción Sinfónica. Special programs from Canal Málaga, cofrade games and talks dedicated, among other subjects, to the Resucitado, the canonical coronations and the transmission of Semana Santa between generations were added. The mayor of Málaga and the councilor for Youth, Mercedes Martín, accompanied the young cofrades at the start of the fair, which had the sponsorship and collaboration of the Ayuntamiento through its Área de Juventud. Numerous hermanos mayores also attended, sharing the day with the young groups, families and visitors.

The Exaltación closed the program

The closing came with the Exaltación de la Juventud Cofrade, by Mauri Rueda, vocal de Juventud of the Cofradía del Rescate. Based on his childhood memories and the friendships born in the brotherhoods, Rueda defended the commitment of young people who dedicate their time to serving, learning and keeping their faith alive, and claimed the responsibility of opening the cofradías to those who come behind. The coordination of the fair fell to Ángela Guerrero, head of Youth of the Agrupación de Cofradías, with special mention to Paloma Artola. The organization thanked the participation of the brotherhoods and cofradías of Málaga and its province, of their hermanos mayores and of all the people who collaborated in this third edition.
