Schools in Málaga have until October 31 to submit their candidacy for the first edition of the 'Mi cole, mi hogar' – 'Mi insti, mi hogar' awards, as reported by the Málaga City Council through the Area of Education and Employment Promotion. The award seeks to recognize, disseminate and highlight the best educational experiences that contribute to strengthening school coexistence, participation, inclusion and the sense of belonging to the educational community.

Who can participate and how

Schools located in the municipality of Málaga offering Early Childhood and Primary Education, Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Permanent Education may apply for the awards. Each school may submit only one candidacy, which must be sent to the email address micolemihogar@gmail.com. Projects must have been developed by the school for at least the 2025–2026 school year, be implemented, have generated verifiable results, have the effective participation of the educational community and promote coexistence, conflict prevention, inclusion or participation.

Two categories and up to 2,000 euros

The rules establish two categories: experiences developed by a single school and joint experiences of two or more schools, in which case a coordinating school must be designated to act as representative of the candidacy. The winning projects will obtain funding of 1,000 and 2,000 euros depending on the category, an amount that must be allocated to actions promoted by the winning school. The jury may also grant special mentions to projects that stand out for their quality, innovation or social impact. Among the evaluation criteria are the impact on school coexistence, the participation of the educational community, inclusion and attention to diversity, pedagogical innovation, collaborative work with other entities, the connection with the surroundings and the neighborhood, the financial sustainability of the project and the possibility of transfer to other schools.

Award ceremony

The awards will be presented at an institutional event at which the winning schools may publicly present their projects. The award is an initiative of the 'Mesa de la Prevención en el Ámbito Educativo', a body created within the actions promoted by the City Council on the occasion of being the coordinating city of the Spanish Network of Educating Cities (RECE) for the period 2025-2027. The board is chaired by the dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Málaga, Carmen Vaquero, and is part of the project 'Educar para prevenir. Prevenir para educar'.

What to do

Submit a single candidacy per school to the email address micolemihogar@gmail.com before October 31, with a project implemented and developed for at least the 2025–2026 school year. In the case of joint candidacies, a coordinating school must be designated.
