The Málaga French Film Festival premieres a record seven first features
The 32nd edition of the festival, from October 16 to 23, puts its tickets on sale today and presents an Official Section with seven film debuts, an unprecedented figure in its history.

The Málaga French Film Festival (FCFM) will hold its 32nd edition from October 16 to 23 in various cultural venues across the city. According to the notice issued by the Ayuntamiento de Málaga, tickets for the Official Section and the Documentary section went on sale on the same day as the announcement, on Wednesday, September 16, at 13.00 hours, at the Cine Albéniz box office, on Unientradas, and on the festival's website. The rest of the activities have free access until capacity is reached.
The Official Section, which will be screened at the Cine Albéniz from October 16 to 22, brings together thirteen films, ten of them in competition. For the first time in the history of the event, seven of those ten films are debut features: «De la Comédie Française», «Congo Boy», «Jupiter», «Invisibles», «À Bras-le-corps», «Un Grand Raccourci» and «L'Âme Idéale». Seven titles arrive as exclusive previews in Spain, and six of them do not yet have a distributor in the country, which, according to the organization, turns the festival into a showcase for potential national buyers.
The opening film will be «De la Comédie Française», by Martin Darondeau and Bertrand Usclat, which has surpassed one million viewers in France. Also screening will be «Congo Boy», by Rafiki Fariala, whose lead actor, Bradley Fiomona Dembeasset, won the Best Actor Award in the Un Certain Regard section at this year's Cannes Film Festival; «Jupiter», by Alexandre Smia, coming from the Venice Film Festival; and «Le Corset», by Louis Clichy, the first animated film to enter the festival's Official Section.
Directors Yann Samuell, Junna Chif, Clément Devilliers, Magalie Lépine-Blondeau, Louise Labèque and Armand Foëx will attend the event to present their works. The Franco-Iranian director Sepideh Farsi will also take part with a special screening of her documentary «Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk» and with the exhibition «La voz de Gaza», featuring photographs by Fatma Hassona, which will be shown exclusively in Spain.
This edition's Professional Jury is made up of producer Sylvie Leray, filmmaker Bruno Lazaro, composer Paloma Peñarrubia, screenwriter and playwright Sergio Rubio, and cultural manager Leticia Salvago, who will be in charge of awarding the event's main prizes.
The Retrospective Section will pay tribute to filmmaker Marjane Satrapi, who recently passed away, as well as to Florence Miailhe and Alain Ughetto, figures of French-language animation cinema. The program also includes a day for film professionals focused on international co-production with French-speaking territories, a short film program, documentaries, school and family sections, a cine-concert, and a closing party.
The festival, directed by Sullivan Benetier, presents this edition under the slogan «Révolution du regard» (the revolution of the gaze). All films will be screened in original version with Spanish subtitles. The full program can be viewed on the website festivalfrancesmalaga.es.
